United Way, Marshall team up to evaluate Success By Six program Mar. 31, 2015 @ 06:54 AM BRANDON ROBERTS HUNTINGTON – United Way of the River Cities’ Success By Six program will soon be getting an evaluation. The program is working with the Center for Business and Economic Research at Marshall University to develop outcomes measurement and data collection methods for United Way’s Success By Six program. Operated in five counties in southwestern West Virginia and southeastern Ohio, Success By Six strives to prepare children for kindergarten on mental, physical, developmental, emotional and social levels. “We are excited to partner with the Center for Business and Economic Research to help us measure Success By Six outcomes in our community,” Lena Burdette, director of education initiatives for United Way of the River Cities, said in a press release. Marshall University to put yardstick on ‘Success By Six’ Program

Casto Success By Six, a national initiative of United Way, seeks to ensure that all children are ready physically, mentally, developmentally, emotionally and socially to begin kindergarten. United Way of the River Cities offers Success By Six in Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln and Mason counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County in Ohio. Now it has asked the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) at Marshall University to come up with a yardstick to measure the program’s results. “We are excited to partner with the CBER to help us measure Success By Six outcomes in our community,” said Lena Burdette, Director of Education Initiatives for United Way of the River Cities.
